Nurturing the next generation of scholars

Union Scholars raises theologians, authors, and teachers to serve the church and fuel mission

What we do

Union Scholars is a year-long course to serve PhD students, recent PhD graduates, and those considering a PhD in the near future with their ongoing theological research. Participants meet for rigorous discussion and support, under the tutelage of a respected group of Senior Fellows, and have opportunities to present their own research.

We serve students from various institutions around the world, including Union School of Theology, Oxford, Cambridge, and many others.

Key themes include:

  • The Scholar and Worship

  • The Scholar and Theology

  • The Scholar and the Soul

  • The Scholar and Scripture

  • The Scholar and the Church

Who we are

Director Rob Trenckmann and Dean Professor Donald Fairbairn are supported by a team of Senior Fellows including Professor Michael Reeves, Professor Robert Letham, and Professor Gwenfair Adams.

“In my country, biblical integrity is shattered in academia and crumbling in the church. In Scholars, biblical integrity isn't merely a shared foundation, but a commitment through which we aim to do theology for the church. I value this tremendously highly.”
