VU Collaboration
The Union School of Theology PhD programme is offered through a collaborative partnership with the prestigious Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Free University Amsterdam).
VU Amsterdam is one of Europe’s leading research universities, with a strong interest in Reformed theology. In the recent QS rating of universities, VU Amsterdam ranked no. 5 worldwide in the field of Theology and Religious Studies.
With this collaboration, our UST PhD students benefit from the personal supervision of our own excellent research faculty, whilst working in partnership with the scholarly expertise and world-class research resources of the Theology Faculty at VU Amsterdam.
A further benefit of this partnership is VU Amsterdam’s close involvement with our annual Research Conference. In addition to our own scholars, as well as international scholars from other institutions, several VU Amsterdam faculty and students join us each year. This means the conference has a vibrant international community, with a representation of diverse specialities and interests, all encouraging ongoing collaboration.
